Happy Holidays! The Observer and the REVIEW&EXPRESS each published a combined holiday edition with the dates of Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024 and Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024. There is not a new paper for Dec. 25. The next new edition is Wednesday, Jan. 1.
The office is closed on Monday, Dec. 23 and will reopen Thursday, Jan 2.

Penn Yan-Dundee Football
The Penn Yan-Dundee football team fell to Attica/Alexander, 49-0, Saturday, Oct. 14. The team will complete the regular season at LeRoy, Friday, Oct. 20. Game time is 7 p.m.

Dundee-Bradford
Boys Soccer
The Dundee-Bradford boys soccer team defeated Bloomfield, 2-0, Friday, Oct. 13. The team also won against South Seneca/Romulus, 4-0, Wednesday, Oct. 11.

Girls Soccer
The Dundee-Bradford girls soccer team had three wins last week. The BraveScots won against Lima Christian, 5-2, Friday, Oct. 13. They also beat Campbell-Savona, 3-1, Thursday, Oct. 12. Kendall Parker had two goals and an assist. Madison Hughes made one goal. Adalyn Tham had four saves in the goal.
The girls also defeated Addison, 3-0, Tuesday, Oct. 10. Hughes had two goals, while Mikayla Pavlina added one. Parker had an assist. Tham recorded a shutout in the goal.

Volleyball
The Dundee-Bradford volleyball team fell to Mynderse, 3-0, Thursday, Oct. 12. The team also lost to Harley-Allendale Columbia, 3-0, Wednesday, Oct. 11

Cross Country
The Dundee-Bradford cross country team competed at Midlakes, Tuesday, Oct. 10. For the boys, Devon Grandall was 29th. Braedyn Fisher finished 34th.
For the girls, Cheyanne Grandall was third. Olivia Wheeler took ninth and Marley Duffy was 12th.

Penn Yan
Boys Soccer
The Penn Yan boys soccer team fell to Palmyra-Macedon, 1-0, Thursday, Oct. 12. The team tied HAC, 0-0, in double overtime, Wednesday, Oct. 11. Nathaniel Chaffee made eight saves.

Girls Soccer
The Penn Yan girls soccer team won against RCSD United Girls, 5-0, Friday, Oct. 13. The team also won against Geneva, 6-4, Thursday, Oct. 12.
The Mustangs opened the week with a victory against Waterloo, 4-0.

Tennis
Penn Yan tennis players Rachael Garvey and Anella Tillman competed at the state qualifiers last Friday. They completed their season when they did not advance.

Golf
On a sunny day at Sodus Bay Heights Golf Course, 47 golfers from the Finger Lakes east and west teed off at 10:00 a.m. Representing the six east and seven west schools, the participants played 18 holes on the challenging course.
Eight of the top 12 players scored well enough to qualify for the Section V Golf Tournament. Will Thompson shot an 86 earning a place to compete in the spring.

Cross Country
The Penn Yan cross country team competed at Sodus, Tuesday, Oct. 10. For the boys, JD Tette was first in 16:45. Anthony Wheeler was seventh and Miles Ditzel, Finn Tette and Brisco Smith were 12th, 13th and 14th respectively.
In the girls race, Ameina Samatulski took seventh. Eva Smith was 11th and Madison Bishop finished 23rd.

Volleyball
The Penn Yan volleyball team won against Hammondsport, 3-0, Saturday, Oct. 14. Hailey Trank posted seven aces, three kills, 11 assists and four digs. Dani Miller had one ace, eight assists and one dig. Rosslan Force added five aces, 10 kills and two digs.
The Mustangs won against Honeoye, 3-0, Thursday, Oct. 12. Trank led with eight aces, two kills, 15 assists and three digs. Force contributed 11 kills.
The team also defeated South Seneca, 3-0, Tuesday, Oct. 10. Trank recorded 12 aces and 21 assists. Jenna Reynolds added eight digs.

Hammondsport
Boys Soccer
The Hammondsport boys soccer team lost to Canisteo-Greenwood, 4-0, Wednesday, Oct. 11. The team tied Avoca-Prattsburgh, 2-2, Tuesday, Oct. 10.

Girls Soccer
The Hammondsport girls soccer team lost to Addison, 4-1, Thursday, Oct. 12. The team also fell to Campbell-Savona, 3-1, Tuesday, Oct. 10.

Volleyball
The Hammondsport volleyball team lost to Penn Yan, 3-0, Saturday, Oct. 14. The Lakers also fell to Arkport-Canaseraga, 3-0, Friday, Oct. 13.
The team went to five games in a loss to Addison, 3-2, Wednesday, Oct. 11.

Schuyler Storm
Football
The Schuyler Storm football team defeated Sidney, 55-14, Friday, Oct. 13.
On the ground, Bradley Gillis had 12 carries for 127 yards and four touchdowns. Ryan Willett posted 15 carries for 230 yards and two touchdowns. Nick D'Alleva added four runs for 33 yards.
Gavin Lohmeyer was 6-for-13 passing with 93 yards and two touchdowns.
Alex Holmes and Brady Cannon both recorded receptions for touchdowns.
Gillis led the defense with eight tackles. Aries Harler and D'Alleva both had four.

Watkins Glen
Boys Soccer
The Watkins Glen boys soccer team won against Moravia, 3-1, Tuesday, Oct. 10. The three goals were scored by Michael Purpura, Aidan Kelly, and Liam Smith. Purpura and Smith each added an assist as well. Goalie Caleb Bresett had six saves in goal.

Girls Soccer
The Watkins Glen girls soccer team won the IAC championship game at Tompkins Cortland Community College, 3-2, Saturday, Oct. 14.
Skye Honrath scored all three goals for the Lake Hawks. Ava Kelly assisted once. Goalkeeper Lilly Ameigh recorded seven saves.
"I’m proud of the team that on a night where we didn’t play our best, we were able to come away with the win for the league championship," said Coach Scott Morse. "Marathon definitely showed up ready to compete and it was a hard-fought game. We weren’t nearly as aggressive as we have been this season. We played well at times, but just couldn’t get going as a team and we need to continue working on our communication."
Morse added, "Skye Honrath came up big tonight scoring when we needed it most. She was getting doubled on every touch, so to keep battling and score three goals was incredible. Ava Kelly played a really good game as well, fighting through some minor injuries and keeping the pressure on the Marathon defenders."

Cross Country
The Watkins Glen cross country team competed at the Marathon Invitational, Saturday, Oct. 14. For the boys, Johnny VanScoyk was seventh and Aidan Maphis took 16th. Isaac Hendrickson finished 19th.

Volleyball
The Watkins Glen volleyball team lost to Trumansburg, Tuesday, Oct. 10. The final game tally was 3-0.

Odessa
Girls Soccer
The Odessa-Montour girls soccer team won against Spencer-Van Etten/Candor, 2-1, Thursday, Oct. 12. Scoring for the Grizzlies were Paisley Jeziorski and Leah Antes. Assisting were Hannah Barr and Reese Rounds.
The soccer team also won against South Seneca, 1-0, Tuesday, Oct. 10. Antes recorded one goal. Jackie Mace made two saves.

Volleyball
The Odessa-Montour volleyball team lost to Spencer-Van Etten, 3-0, Friday, Oct. 13.
