SPORTS RECAP: Week of 3-15-23

Odessa-Montour hosts college signing day
The Odessa-Montour Central School District hosted family, friends and teammates of four student-athletes who signed to continue their athletic careers in college. Daniel Lewis, Hannah Nolan, Tori Brewster and Jon Spencer signed with Alfred State (baseball), SUNY Cortland (soccer), Houghton (track and field) and Roberts Wesleyan (swimming), respectively. Athletic Manager, Coach and Teacher Greg Gavich explained that given the small size of the graduating class, 36, having four college signings well represented the hard work and dedication of the seniors.

Penn Yan bowler competes at states
The New York State Public High School Athletic Association bowling championships were held last week at AMF Strike-N-Spare Lanes in Syracuse. Representing Section V on the composite team were Penn Yan's Anella Tillman along with Haley Grabowski, Bella Ferraro, Miley Bohrer, Leah Burke and Sadie Erb. The team took sixth with a total pinfall of 5,853. Tillman was 31st overall with a six-game total of 1,143 and was 14th in the high-game competition with a 242.
