Watson takes second for H'port
PENN YAN--The Steuben County high school golf tournament (sectional qualifier) was held at Lakeside Country Club, Monday, May 15. Parker Watson was second for Hammondsport with a 90.
Sectionals will be played at Penfield Country Club on Saturday, May 20.
Baseball
The Lakers' varsity baseball team was blanked by Prattsburgh, 12-0, Friday, May 12.
Hammondsport fell to Bath Haverling, 5-3, Thursday, May 11. The Lakers posted two hits, scoring one run in the first inning and two in the seventh inning.
The Lakers' varsity baseball team was beat by Arkport, Wednesday, May 10. The final score was 19-3. Hammondsport had five hits.
The Hammondsport team lost to Avoca, 20-5, in a home game, Monday, May 8.
The Lakers earned 16 hits. Jake Peacock was 3-for-4, with two RBIs. Sam Zyla was also 3-for-4, with one RBI, while Jackson Cummings was 1-for-4, with an RBI. Kristian Rice was 2-for-3, with a double.
Tennis
The Prattsburgh-Hammondsport varsity tennis team was beat by Naples, 3-2, Thursday, May 11.
Troy Sanford topped Sonny Leta, 7-6(7-4), 6-3. Colin Drain defeated Spencer Hunter, 5-7, 6-4, 6-1.
Prattsburgh-Hammondsport lost to Campbell-Savona-Bradford, 4-1, Monday, May 8.
In singles, Drain beat Rolf Lewis, 6-2, 6-3. The other scores were: Sanford, 6-4, 6-0; Tommy Morris, 6-0, 6-0; Benjamin Fingar and Rhett Presler, 7-6(7-5), 6-7(2-7), 7-5; and Bryce Santacroce & Brendan Wagner, 6-2, 6-3.

Dundee loses to Whitman, 6-4
GORHAM--The Dundee baseball team lost to Marcus Whitman, Thursday, May 11. The final score was 6-4. The Scots had nine hits and only one error.
Dundee scored two runs in the first inning and one run in the third and fifth innings. Whitman had three runs in the third and fourth inning.
Softball
The Dundee varsity softball team blanked Harley Allendale Columbia in a home game, Thursday, May 11. The final score was 1-0.
Track and field
The Dundee varsity track and field teams competed in the Fast Times Invitational, held at Corning, Friday, May 12.
For the boys, Wylie Hall took second in the 100 meter dash (12.05), second in the 200 meter dash (24.59), third in the triple jump (35'8.5"), and fourth in the long jump (17'10").
Tyler Brace was second in the triple jump (38'8.75"), third in the high jump (5'6"), and third in the long jump (18'7.25"). Sam Richards placed third in the pole vault (10'6"). Austin Brace finished fifth in the triple jump (34'11.75").
For the girls, Emily Oughterson finished 15th in the long jump (11'10.5"). Oughterson also took 20th in the 200 meter dash (32.37).
Hallie Knapp was 21st in the discus (44'10").

Penn Yan tennis falls to Wayne; softball wins one
ONTARIO CENTER--The Penn Yan varsity tennis team lost to Wayne, 3-2, Thursday, May 11.
In singles, Jack Arnold topped Ben Schultes, 6-1, 6-2. Garrett Warren defeated Kyle Hadcock, 6-3, 0-6, 7-5.
Lukas Spears lost, 6-2, 6-2. Jarett Alexander and Eden Slocum fell, 7-6(7-5), 6-3. Paul Pereira and Blaise Cox were beat, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1.
The Mustangs lost to Newark, 3-2, Wednesday, May 10.
Warren topped Matthew Roelands, 6-2, 6-2. Spears beat Phillip Ross, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.
Arnold lost, 6-4, 0-6, 6-1. Pereira and Cox were beat, 6-3, 6-7(6-8), 6-2. Alexander and Jeremy Fenton lost, 6-2, 7-6(7-1).
Penn Yan's tennis team was beat by Bloomfield, Tuesday, May 9. The final score was 3-2. Arnold beat Seth Warren, 6-0, 6-0. Warren topped JP Anderson, 6-2, 6-1.
Softball
The Penn Yan varsity softball team was blanked by Mynderse, Friday, May 12. The final score was 3-0. With the loss, Penn Yan's record is 4-15.
The Lady Mustangs topped visiting Palmyra-Macedon, Thursday, May 11. The final score was 7-2.
Penn Yan played Newark, Wednesday, May 10 and lost. The score was 8-6.
Individual stats were not provided.
Baseball
The Penn Yan varsity baseball team lost to Mynderse, 5-4, Friday, May 12.
Brennan Prather was 2-for-3, with one RBI and a double. Brandon Sherman was 1-for-3, while Peyton Schuck was 1-for-4. Sherman and Schuck both posted one RBI.
The Mustangs baseball team was beat by Palmyra-Macedon, 8-6, Thursday, May 11.
Sherman was 4-for-4, with three RBIs. Schuck was 1-for-2, with an RBI and a double. Ralph Clancy was 1-for-3, with one RBI.
Penn Yan fell to Newark, 7-1, Wednesday, May 10.
Donny McMahon was 2-for-3, while Ian Bartee was 1-for-2. Derrick Rivello and Jake Whitford each had one hit. Whitford also posted the team's sole RBI.
Boys lacrosse
The Penn Yan boys varsity lacrosse team fell to Penfield, 13-6, Friday, May 12.
Austin Blumbergs scored two goals. Ben Emerson had one goal and two assists. Coty Bailey, Dylan Stape, and Colton Smith each posted one goal.
Preston Pedersen assisted once. In the goal, Jeff Kinyoun posted six saves. Kyle Welker added four.
The Mustangs lost to Geneva, Tuesday, May 9. The final score was 5-1. Emerson scored Penn Yan's lone goal. Kinyoun had seven saves in goal, while Welker had four saves.
Girls lacrosse
The Lady Mustangs varsity lacrosse team beat Churchville-Chili, 12-9, Saturday, May 13.
Brenna Voigt and and Elissa Callaway both scored five goals. Voigt also posted two assists. Sydney Bloom added one goal and three assists, while Alli Olevnik had one goal and one assist. Devin Stahlman assisted once.
Penn Yan lost to Aquinas, 9-7, Friday, May 12. Callaway led with four goals. Voigt earned two goals and three assists. Bloom posted one goal and one assist.
The Lady Mustangs topped Geneva in an away game, Tuesday, May 9. The final score was 20-5.
Hannah Keech led with six goals. Bloom followed with four goals and four assists. Voigt posted three goals and six assists, while Callaway had three goals and one assist. Cassie Lafler scored twice. Allison Dixon and Cassidy Prather each added one goal.
Track and field
The Penn Yan girls varsity track and field team placed 10th out of 21 schools at the Marion Invitational, Friday, May 12.
Joddie Decker took first in the 1500 meter run (4:58.30) and third in the 3000 meter run (10:46.41). Emma Harling finished fifth in the shot put (31'5") and 10th in the discus (80'11"). Katie Voak placed ninth in the 2000 meter steeplechase (8:31.14)
For the boys, Kyle Ingerick placed eighth in the long jump (19'4.5") and ninth in the triple jump (38'3"). Riley Brittingham placed 15th in the 3000 meter steeplechase (12:23.86)

Softball tops Southern Cayuga; Simpson wins for O-M
AURORA--The Odessa-Montour varsity softball team topped Southern Cayuga, 6-4, Friday, May 12.
Heidi Casselberry was 3-for-4, with an RBI, while Dasia Herrmann was 2-for-3, with one RBI. Alyssa Crout was 1-for-3, with two RBIs. Breanna Bentley was also 1-for-3, posting an RBI. Grace Vondracek struck out nine players on the pitcher's mound.
The varsity softball team faced Tioga in a double header, Tuesday, May 9.
Tioga blanked Odessa, 6-0, in the first game. Lydia Lynch and Grace Vondracek each posted a hit. Pitching, Vondracek had three strikeouts.
In the second game, the Indians lost 20-1. Emma Lodge had the Indians' sole hit. Lynch and Alyssa Crout both pitched, each striking out one player.
Odessa topped Spencer-Van Etten, 10-6, Monday, May 8.
Megan Jenkins was 2-for-3, with three RBIs and a triple. Vondracek and Lynch were both 1-for-3, with two RBIs each. On the pitcher's mound, Vondracek struck out 15 players.
Track and field
The Odessa-Montour varsity track and field teams competed at the Groton Invitational in Union Springs, Saturday, May 13.
For the boys, Andy Fudala was first in the 110 meter hurdles (16.55) and second in the pole vault (13'0"). Jacob Zimmer placed first in the 100 meter dash (12.00). Zach Elliott finished first in the discus (125'9").
For the girls, Nadia Simpson took first in the 100 meter dash (13.24) and first in the 200 meter dash (27.88). Jaylin Rumsey finished first in the discus (88'9") and second in the shot put (29'7.5"). Casey Underwood took fourth in the 1500 meter run (5:33.99).

Hazlitt sets record breaking time; golf wins
CORNING--The Watkins Glen varsity track and field teams competed in the Fast Times Invitational at Corning, Friday, May 12.
Patrick Hazlitt won the 800 meter run in 1:54.88, breaking the school record he set last year. Gabe Planty had a personal best taking second in the 1600 meter with a time of 4:27.89. This time sets him up to compete in Nationals this June as a freshman.
Dan Paradiso was sixth in the steeplecase (11:21.54). The boys 4x400 relay team (Gabe Planty, Casen Weeden, Sean Holland, and Hazlitt) took sixth place with 3:50.25
For the girls, Allison Gibson placed fourth in the long jump (14'1.75") and fourth in the high jump (4'6" jump). Isobel Scheffey finished fourth in the 100 meter (13.56) and sixth in the 200 meter (28.7, a personal best)
Julya Slater, a seventh grader, finished fifth in the 2000 steeplechase (8:46.8, a personal best). Jena Slater placed fifth in the pole vault (7'6"). Kai Sutterby took sixth in the 800 meter (2:33.86). The 4x100 relay team (Scheffey, Gibson, Haley Dean, and Jena Slater) were fifth with a time of 56.55.
The Watkins track and field teams competed against Waverly, Newark Valley, and Notre Dame, Monday, May 8.
For the boys, Hazlitt won first in the 400 meter run, coming close to breaking his own record with a time of 51.51. Shawn Rutledge won the 3200 meter run in 10:27.79.
Aaron Planty took third in the 400 meter run (54.11, a personal best) and second in the 800 meter run. Sean Holland finished fourth in the 1600 meter run, while Paradiso was sixth.
Alex Schimizzi took fifth in the 400 hurdles. Cameron Connelly placed fifth in the triple tump (32'2").
For the girls, Sutterby won the 800 meter in a personal best of 2:33.14. Jena Slater took third in the pole vault. Scheffey was third in the 100 meter run.
Gibson finished fourth in the 100 meter run and fifth in the high jump. Julya Slater placed fourth in the 1500 meter run and fifth in the 400 hurdles.
Lacrosse
The Watkins Glen varsity lacrosse team fell to Dryden, 16-3, Friday, May 12.
Joe Chedzoy scored two points, while Dylan Platon had one. Jackson Dunham recorded one assist.
The Senecas lost to Elmira Notre Dame in overtime, 15-14, Tuesday, May 9.
Jake Kelly led with five goals. Chedzoy and Dunham both added three goals. Dalton Cummings posted two goals, while Platon scored once. In goal, Kaitlyn Valla recorded nine saves.
Baseball
The Seneca Indians varsity baseball team fell to Lansing, 4-2, Wednesday, May 10.
The Watkins-Odessa team took an early 2-1 lead, scoring their only two runs in the second inning. The Seneca Indians posted six hits, to Lansing's five, and had one error.
Josh Updyke was 2-for-3, with an RBI. Isaac McIlroy was 1-for-3, with an RBI. Johnny Neidermaier was 1-for-2, with a double.
The Seneca Indians lost to Notre Dame, 8-4, Tuesday, May 9.
The Watkins-Odessa team posted six hits. Caleb Thomas was 1-for-3, with two RBIs. Derrick Lewis was 1-for-3, with an RBI. Updyke was 3-for-4.
Boys Golf
The Watkins Glen varsity golf team defeated Notre Dame, Wednesday, May 10. The totals were 221-247. Ryan Clark had the low 40. Sam Hanley recorded a 41. Jacob Carocci added a 46. Alex Gibson and Pat Bannon each finished with 47 and Max Schimizzi carded a 51.
