The office is closed on Monday, Dec. 23 and will reopen Thursday, Jan 2.

SPORTS RECAP: Week of 2/22/17

DeBolt wins two races, swimmers take fifth overall
OWEGO--The Watkins Glen boys varsity swim team took fifth in the Section IV Class C Championships, Wednesday, Jan. 15, to Saturday, Jan. 18.
Aidan DeBolt won first in the 50 freestyle (22.66) and first in the 100 freestyle (49.79). Dakota Cole took fifth in the 200 freestyle (2:00.80) and fifth in the 500 freestyle (5:33.41). AJ Specchio placed fifth in the 200 IM (2:18.74) and sixth in the 100 backstroke (1:04.41).
Nathaniel Wickham finished fifth in the 100 freestyle (57.07) and seventh in the 50 freestyle (24.93). William Fitzsimmons placed eighth in the 100 backstroke (1:06.39). The 200 freestyle relay team (DeBolt, Wickham, Cole, and Specchio) was second in 1:37.83. The 400 freestyle relay team (Cole, Wickham, Specchio, and DeBolt) took fourth in 3:39.01.
Bowling
The Watkins Glen girls varsity bowling team placed fifth at the Section IV state qualifier.
Liz Mason led with a 519 and 517. Dakota Evans followed with 521 and 497. Hayley Cornish added 431 and 467. Nikole VanDyke earned 365 and 394.
Girls basketball
Watkins' Amanda Pike was named as the Co-Most Valuable Player for the Interscholastic Athletic Conference (IAC) South Large School division. Mariah Gonzalez was selected for the division's First All-Star Team, while Hannah Morse was named to the Second Team.

Odessa swimmers take fourth; girls lose in title game
OWEGO-The Odessa-Montour boys varsity swim team placed fourth in the Section IV Class C finals, Saturday, Feb. 18.
Andy Fudala earned a first place finish in the 100 breaststroke. "Today [Fudala] met his biggest challenge, from Oneonta's Avika Garfield," said Coach Terri Brace. "They were neck and neck through the whole race, with Fudala beating Garfield on the turns and underwaters, and Garfield gaining ground down each stretch."
Fudala also took sixth in the 50 Free in 24.79. Billy Tague was third in the 500 Free with 5:14.78 and fourth in the 200 Free in 1:58.26. Alec Betts took third in the 100 breast in 1:10.44 and fourth in the 200 IM in 2:18.74. Fudala, Tague and Betts were joined by Jake Mayette in the 200 medley relay to take third in a season best time of 1:49.97.
The 200 free relay team (Cameron Adams, Mayette, Brett Walters, and Noah Angle) took fourth in 1:45.09. The 400 free relay team (Tague, Angle, Fudala, and Alec Betts) placed sixth in 3:47.81.
Odessa finished the season with a record of 6-5, which is the first winning season for the Indians in 17 years.
Girls basketball
The Odessa-Montour girls varsity basketball team lost to Moravia, 48-39, in the Interscholastic Athletic Conference (IAC) Small School championship game, Friday, Feb. 17.
Olivia Grover led with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Gillian Clark added 12 points, while Sage Garrison scored five. Nakiaha Robinson earned four points, while Alexis Saunders had two.
Odessa's record is 16-4.
Clark was also named as the IAC's Most Valuable Player for the South Small School Division. Grover was named to the division's First All-Star Team. Robinson and Garrison were selected for the Second Team.

Penn Yan boys claim sectional bowling crown
GATES--The Penn Yan boys varsity bowling team won the Section V Class C Championship, Tuesday, Feb. 14, while the girls were second, Wednesday, Feb. 15.
For the boys, Bryce Johnson led with a 1232 total for six games. Steven Ottaviano earned an 1188. Jacob Whitford recorded an 1184 series. Zack Blauvelt had a 979.
The girls took second place overall with Kari Ayers leading with a 1111. Emilie Thomas had a 949 and Emily Augustine a 933. Brandee Ellis recorded a 824 and McKelvie Jensen had a 805.
Girls basketball
The Penn Yan girls varsity basketball team lost to Palmyra-Macedon, 56-31, Wednesday, Feb. 15.
Hannah Keech and Lizzy Lafferty both led with seven points. Sydney Bloom scored five, followed by Elissa Callaway and Jenna Curbeau with three each. Emalee Rose Brockman, Emma Harling, and Emily Wunder all recorded two points.
With the loss, the Lady Mustangs' record sits at 11-9.
Boys basketball
The Penn Yan boys varsity basketball team beat Palmyra-Macedon, 60-44, Tuesday, Feb. 14.
Desmond Battin led with 25 points. Dylan Stape added 15 points, while Ben Emerson scored seven.
Penn Yan's record is 11-9.

Dundee boys defeat Red Jacket 73-57; girls fall
DUNDEE--The Scots' varsity basketball team topped Red Jacket, 73-57, Wednesday, Feb. 15.
Bobby Strait led with 34 points. Kyle Cratsley and Tyler Brace both added nine points. Dundee's record is now 13-7.
Dundee's boys basketball team lost to Bloomfield, 63-57, Tuesday, Feb. 14. Strait recorded 19 points.
Girls basketball
The Dundee girls varsity basketball team ended the regular season with a loss to Red Jacket, Tuesday, Feb. 14. The final score was 59-26.
Megan Sutherland led with 14 points. Madison Neu added five points and eight rebounds. Emily Oughterson scored three points. Alexandria Wood and Delaine Nolan both earned two points and two rebounds.
Bowling
The Dundee boys varsity bowling team finished fourth in the Class D Sectional Championship, Tuesday, Feb. 14. For the boys, Jared Hartman recorded a second high game of 232.

Lakers beat Alfred-Almond
HAMMONDSPORT-The Hammondsport boys varsity basketball team topped Alfred-Almond, Tuesday, Feb. 14. The final score was 48-36.
Parker Watson led with 14 points. Dillan Conley, Cody Kolodziejczak, James Kolodziejczak, and Billy Whitney each scored seven points.
With the win, the Lakers' record is 6-13.
