Penn Yan girls take second in Bath tournament
BATH--The Penn Yan girls varsity basketball team lost to Bath-Haverling in the championship round of the Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament, Wednesday, Dec. 28. The final score was 47-36.
The Lady Mustangs beat Owego Free Academy, 60-54, in the first round of the tournament, Tuesday, Dec. 27.
Sydney Bloom led with 21 points and five assists. Lizzy Lafferty earned 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Hannah Keech recorded seven points and five assists. Elissa Callaway scored six points. Emily Wunder added three points and 15 rebounds, while Cassidy Prather and Emalee Rose Brockman both scored two.
The Lady Mustangs beat Wayne, 71-56, Wednesday, Dec. 21.
Bloom led with 24 points and six assists. Lafferty earned 14 points and 14 rebounds. Emma Harling scored nine points, while Keech added eight points and six assists. Callaway earned six points.
Wrestling
The Penn Yan varsity wrestling team placed fourth at the Dan DeSanctis Duals in Webster, Friday, Dec. 30.
The Mustangs' win was against, Lyons, 42-24. Penn Yan fell to Byron Bergen, 60-42; Webster Thomas, 78-3; and Waterloo, 60-27.
Nate Elliott (145) was undefeated at 4-0. Coty Bailey (160) won three, but lost one. Alvaro Chavez (170), Cody Allgood (99), and Jarred Calice (132) finished the tournament at 2-2.
The Penn Yan varsity wrestling team lost to Waterloo, 45-36, Thursday, Dec. 22.
Damien Snyder (113) pinned Donavan Rathbone in 1:59. Jarred Calice (132) won over Thomas Laughlan in 0:34. Caleb Plain (138) beat Isaiah Cottman in 1:06. Bailey (160) pinned Patrick Solometo in 0:43. Cody Allgood (106) and Riley Brittingham (126) won by forfeit.
Boys basketball
Penn Yan's boys varsity basketball team topped Wellsville, 64-51, Thursday, Dec. 22.
Desmond Battin led with 17 points, followed by Ben Emerson with 16. Dylan Stape scored 12.
The Mustangs lost to Wayne, 55-41, Tuesday, Dec. 20. Emerson recorded 13 points.

Dundee girls lose, boys beat Naples
NAPLES--Dundee's girls varsity basketball team fell to Naples, Wednesday, Dec. 21. The final score was 57-38.
Madison Neu led with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Megan Sutherland added 12 points and five rebounds. Delaine Nolan scored six points, with six rebounds. Mackenzie Strait added three points, four assists, and three rebounds. Alexandria Wood recorded two points, while Alyssah Newell scored one.
Boys basketball
The Scots' boys varsity basketball team won against Naples, 64-48, Tuesday, Dec. 20.
Wylie Hall led with 23 points. Bobby Strait followed with 21. With the win, Dundee's record is 5-2.
Wrestling
The Dundee varsity wrestling team beat Red Jacket, 48-29, Thursday, Dec. 22.
Charles Dailey (132) pinned Tyler Schwalbach in :49.
Paul Knapp, Michael Gee, Kenneth Empson, Logan Corey, Doug Johnson, Troy Smith and Harry Nice recorded forfeit wins.

Lakers take third in holiday tournament
JASPER-The Hammondsport boys varsity basketball team beat Harley Allendale Columbia in the consolation round of the Jasper-Troupsburg holiday tournament, Wednesday, Dec. 28. The final score was 43-42.
Luke Atkinson scored 18 points. Cody Kolodziejczak followed with 12. Kolodziejczak was also named a tournament all star.
The Lakers lost to Genesee Valley, 60-44, on the first day of the tournament, Tuesday, Dec. 27. Brayden Whitcomb recorded 10 points, while Atkinson earned eight.
Hammondsport was beat by Campbell-Savona, 47-42, Thursday, Dec. 22.
Kolodziejczak scored 17 points. George Ruddy added 10 points and Parker Watson six.

Odessa-Montour wrestlers place third at Binghamton
BINGHAMTON--The Odessa-Montour varsity wrestling team placed third in the Binghamton Duals, Friday, Dec. 30.
The Indians' record for the tournament was 2-2. Odessa beat Whitney Point, 42-35, and Binghamton-Seton, 48-30. The Indians lost to Skaneateles, 51-33, and Walton-Delhi, 57-25.
Cameron Pickering (170 pounds) remained undefeated this season, winning all his matches with three pins and one decision. Jeremiah Lynch (160) won all four matches: two falls, one decision, and one forfeit. Dylan Houseknecht (285) was also 4-0 on the day, with two falls and two forfeits.
Bowling
The Odessa-Montour varsity bowling teams fell to Newark Valley, Thursday, Dec. 22.
The boys fell, 3-1, led by Joey Glosenger with 548. Trevor Dunn added a 513, while Eric Rumsey had 501. Alex Grady recorded 485. Cameron Bryington had 428 and Andrew Ink a 417.
The girls were blanked, 4-0. Jackie Vincent bowled a 433. Kacie Wood earned 379, followed by Carolyn Arias with 326. Madison Randall had 323. Taylor Sykes recorded 286, while Jana Arias bowled a 258.
Boys basketball
The Indians' varsity basketball team topped Bradford, 42-41, Thursday, Dec. 22. Zach Elliott led with 17 points. Curtis Harris earned 13 points. Noah Austin added eight.
Boys swimming
The Odessa-Montour varsity swim team lost to Lansing, 50-44, Friday, Dec. 23.
The 400 freestyle relay team (Brett Walters, Cameron Adams, Noah Angle, and Kyle Frasier) won first with 4:30.25. Alec Betts placed first in the 200 IM (2:26.17). Billy Tague won first in the 500 free (5:27.55). Andy Fudala took first in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.06).

Watkins girls win 'More Than a Game' Tournament
SYRACUSE--The Watkins Glen girls varsity basketball team won the 'More Than a Game' Tournament in their pool, Thursday, Dec. 29.
The Senecas beat Skaneateles, 63-42, in the tournament championship. Leading Watkins was Amanda Pike with 27 points and five steals. Taylor Kelly had 10 points and three steals, while Hannah Morse recorded eight points, three assists, and three steals. Mariah Gonzalez earned five points. Emmie Bond and Julia Reilly both scored four, while Ryanna LaMoreaux had three.
Watkins' girls beat Holland Patent, 59-42, in the opening round of the tournament, Wednesday, Dec. 28.
Gonzalez scored 18 points. Pike earned 16, followed by Morse with seven. Kelly added six points. Clara Chedzoy scored five, while Makenna Fraboni had three. LaMoreaux and Mikenna Ayers both earned two points.
The girls varsity basketball team won their own Melissa B. Wilson Memorial Tournament championship, Friday, Dec. 23. Watkins beat Newfield, 42-34.
Pike led with 14 points. Gonzalez added nine points, while Morse had seven. Chedzoy and Kelly both scored five.
Watkins beat Thomas A. Edison, 63-35, in the tournament opener, Thursday, Dec. 22.
Kelly led with 10 points, followed by Chedzoy and Ayers with eight each. Morse and Pike each had seven points. Gonzalez scored six and Reilly five.
Boys basketball
The Watkins Glen boys varsity basketball team lost to Spencer-Van Etten, 38-32, in the consolation game of the Holiday Basketball Tournament, Friday, Dec. 30.
Connor Seeley-Ion led with eight points. Michael Doane and Max Schimizzi both added seven. Joseph Chedzoy scored six points, while Alex Gibson had four.
The Senecas lost to Lansing, 27-25, in the opening game of the tournament, Thursday, Dec. 29.
Doane scored 12 points. Schimizzi added five, while Gibson earned four. Hughey and Seeley-Ion both scored two points.
Watkins fell to Sidney, 64-54, Tuesday, Dec. 26.
Seeley-Ion led with 19 points. Doane and Alex Schimizzi both added 12 points. Gibson scored nine, while Max Schimizzi had two.
Indoor track
The Watkins Glen varsity indoor track team competed at Cortland, Wednesday, Dec. 28.
The Distance Medley Relay team of Sam Hanley, Jacob Carocci, Aaron Planty and Patrick Hazlitt set a new school record with 11:19.92, beating the old record by over 38 seconds. Josh Updyke placed fourth in the 55 meter run in 6.88 seconds and ran his first 300 meter in 40.31 seconds. Daniel Paradiso and Hanley set personal records in the 600 meter run with 1:42.68 and 1:35.99 respectively. Carocci also set a new high jump school record indoors by leaping 5'8". Planty ran the 1600 meter in 4:48, a personal record, while Julian Thornton completed the 1000 meter in 3:38.52.
