Blauvelt wins Miss Penn Yan 2014

PENN YAN—Abigail Blauvelt was selected as the 2014 Miss Penn Yan during the village's StarShine celebration Friday, Dec. 6. Blauvelt was sponsored by the Pennsylvania Yankee Theatre Company and was selected from 15 total contestants. Mary Katherine Killen was selected as the first runner up, while Stephanie Owens was selected as the second runner up.
The Miss Penn Yan competition capped off the village StarShine event which featured several vendors along with live holiday entertainment along Main Street. The Penn Yan Fire Department hosted the Elf School where children could decorate cookies, make reindeer food and get their face painted. Santa Claus also made an appearance where children had their photos taken after telling him what they wanted for Christmas.
