Board reelects O'Donnell, Myers

    WATKINS GLEN—Brian O’Donnell was reelected as the Watkins Glen school board president, Monday, July 2.
    Michael Myers was reelected as the vice president during the reorganizational meeting.  The board also approved 33 stipend positions to various staff members.  The appointments included Marie Fitzsimmons as the high school student council advisor, Cyndy Wood as the aquatic director, Diana Crane as fitness center supervisor, and Kelly Sterner as the Varsity Club advisor.
    In other business:
    •  Jessica Hill, internal auditor, presented the 2011-12 internal report.  She focused on the school lunch service.
    •  Chris Clark, John Fazzary, and Greg Gavich were appointed as Finger Lakes basketball coaches.
    •  An agreement was approved with Enviro-Control Technologies, Inc. for asbestos testing.
    •  The board approved an agreement with Schuyler Hospital for physical therapy services for July 9 to Aug. 15, 2012.

    •  The board approved the response to intervention (RTI) plan.
     •  O’Donnell read a thank you note from Bob Dill for the framed print and gift certificate presented to him by the board in recognition of his years of service to the district last meeting.
    •  The board acknowledged the second reading of the code of conduct, equal opportunity, sexual harassment, and bullying prevention policies.
    The next school board meeting is Monday, Aug. 6.  It is expected to start at 6:30 p.m., following a 5:45 p.m. executive session.
