Meeting:  The Barrington town board met Wednesday, Jan. 28 for one hour, plus an executive session lasting 40 minutes.

Attendance:  All board members were present.  There were seven members of the public in the audience.

Action:  The town’s old copier will be donated to the Dundee Children’s Center, if they want it.

• The board set Tuesday, Feb. 10 as the tentative date for a Land Use Leadership Alliance presentation.  They also set Feb. 24 as a back-up date  if Wayne Supervisor Dawn Dowdle was not available the first time.

• The town’s silver Cherokee jeep will be kept in the highway department’s coverall building so it will not be out in bad weather all the time.  It was suggested that the jeep be kept somewhere else for a day so it could dry properly before it was put in the coverall building.  Supervisor Eileen Farnan added that she wanted to see more town officials make use of the vehicle.  If used though, there is a book in the door for keeping track of mileage.  Farnan said it should be filled out when used.

• The board adopted the comprehensive plan.  It was returned from the county with their approval.

Discussion without action:  The board went into executive session to interview three candidates for the ethics nominating committee, Carlton Reeves, David Larmouth and Judd Dean.  The board will also interview a late application from Connie McNammara at a later date.  No one was appointed to the nominating board yet.

• Farnan asked code enforcement officer Gary Boardman to look over the wastewater code for any revisions he might suggest.

• Farnan reported that she had been contacted by the Census Department asking if the town had any emergency and transitional shelters for the homeless.  She asked the board if they knew of any, and all said they were not aware of any.  Board member Freeman Freeman said he wanted to look into getting funding for such services if they could.

• A representative from the New York Department of Transportation will be at the next meeting.

• The board tabled discussion on the boom mower agreement with the town of Jerusalem because highway superintendent Steve Wheeler was not there.  The April highway use law was also tabled until another meeting.

Bids/purchases over $1,000:  None.

Appointments/resignations:  The board reappointed Boardman as the town’s watershed and code enforcement officer for another year.

Upcoming meetings:  The next regular board meeting will be Feb. 11 at 7 p.m.
