Village streets are getting some repairs

PENN YAN—The village has been working on construction projects, first along Chapel Street, and now along Court Street, that have closed down each road during certain phases of construction hours.
Director of Public Works Brent Bodine said these projects are aimed at rebuilding each road and improving certain infrastructure aspects. Bodine said the Court Street work is rebuilding the road with new storm sewer infrastructure, new road base and fabric, new granite curbs and new asphalt. He also said the cost for this work is $90,050.24.
Bodine said the Chapel Street construction is rebuilding the road with new driveway curbs and asphalt resurfacing for a cost of $27,027.55. Each of the projects has lasted about one week, and should now be usable for traffic. Bodine said the milling and paving operations should take place Thursday, Aug. 30 and Monday, Sept. 10 respectively, and that all work on these roads should be completed by Friday, Sept. 14.
Bodine said approval for the construction came from the Penn Yan Village board, and that the work is part of a three paving plan for the village. He said the work is being partially funded by a Bond Anticipation Note (BAN).
Bodine said there are five more streets that will undergo construction after they are completed. These include portions of Keuka Street, East Elm Street, Henry Street, Central Avenue and Basin Street. Bodine said these projects fall under the same paving plan and will take place before the end of the year.
